Your Eyes Are Important

Eye Massage Therapy

Despite their relatively small size, we rely on our eyes to navigate the world; they are a pretty sophisticated part of our body. Before starting eye massage therapy, the main question that usually comes to everyone's mind is why we should be wary of the eyes? So yes, it is essential to take care of the eye as it improves eye health and prevents eye disease.

The eyes of our body are very sensitive. If something goes into the eyes, we do not feel well and start rubbing eyes, then inflammation happens, causing redness, tearing, pain and swelling. If it does not get removed, eye infections or tissue destruction will develop and increase the risk of losing vision.

Do you know you can do more to protect your eyes? You can indeed take care of your eyes more, besides medical treatment, with eye massage therapy.

Eye Massage Therapy

Eye massage is one of the most ancient ways of treatment to relieve headaches and eyestrain, relieve sore eye muscles, boost your vision, tension and anxiety relief, and many more.

Why Do You Feel Pressure Around Your Eyes?

Many patients experience pain, strain, and pressure around the eyes; they also have sensitivity to bright lights, which can cause headaches. In addition, after a concussion, the brain is overstressed because it takes a lot of eyes movement to scan through the environment to see things and then interpret what you are looking at; that is a lot of information for the brain to handle.

The process may be overwhelming because of this challenging experience for the brain. Due to this, it leads to pain, pressure, and headaches around the eyes.

Techniques Of Eye Massage

You need to take care of your eye muscles as each eye has six muscles to move eyes all day long through your environment safely. Here are a few eye massage techniques to help ease eye pressure, tension, soreness, anxiety, and fatigue.

  1. Dry Your Hands

Rub your hands together thoroughly for the first movement of the eye massage until they are warm and energized. Now, place them in the cupped palming position over your eyes and take deep breaths. Then after a few minutes, slowly bring your hands away.

  1. First Movement-Tap On The Bony Socket

Using each hand's middle fingers, starting with the middle from your eyes, gently tap on the bony socket surrounding the eyes. Then with three fingers, Move upwards along the eyebrows and underneath the eyes. During the movement, you will stimulate all the seven acupressure points around the eye socket; it is beneficial for releasing attention from too much computer use or late-night mobile use.

  1. Second Movement-Pressure Between Eyebrows

In the second movement, bring your thumbs where your eyebrows meet, the bridge of your nose. Now breathe in and gently press the tips of your thumbs into the bone with the exhalation. Then release that pressure, and breathe in. Next, move along about half of the thumb width and press in with the exhalation. Continue the movement along the upper eyebrow bone. Once you reach a point about ⅓ midway, you will find a little notch in the bone, and that point is a compelling acupressure point for the visual system.

  1. Moisturizing

Take up some oil or moisturizer on your fingertips, and then use it on the corner of each eye individually. Then, in a sweeping motion, massage upwards; it will help you destress.

Essential Things To Remember During The Eye Massage

  1.  Do Not Press Your Eyes Firmly

As your eye is one of the sensitive parts of the body, you must keep it in your mind to not put too much pressure on the eye or strong forces on it. Instead, it would help if you only give your eyes a gentle pressure that makes you feel comfortable.

  1. Concern Your Doctor

Suppose you are under any medical case for a particular eye condition. In that case, eye massage therapy is not a replacement for your medical treatment; therefore, you must concern your doctor whether this is safe for you to do.

  1. Never Stretch Your Skin

When moving, your fingers glide on the skin; always use suitable massage oil or natural moisturizer to provide smooth gliding lubrication.

  1. Be Attentive

It would be best to keep your attention on what you are doing. The positive feelings of nurturing yourself, your face, and your visual system will bring nourishing blood energy and stimulate all eye tissues.
